Before the Republic of India there was the Indian All-Congress. It included all the people who wanted out from under British rule. At some some Mohammed Ali Jinnah decided that Moslems could not live side by side with "idol worshipers. They needed a Moslem nation on the subcontinent. It took some some, but eventually partition took place. Trouble was there were more Moslems who didn`t mind living in an "idolatrous" country. In fact, more than Mr. Ali Jinnah imagined.
The point is that unlike the Palestinians, the All Indian Congress Party represented "all the people of the subcontinent, except for the Moslems who chose to remain in the Republic of India. With the two Palestinian factions arguing "whose on first", it may even come to a point that the enlightened world will respond as Costello did when he asked who was on first--"I don`t giva damn!". |
