All though I admire both the Williams sisters for their achievements of breaking out of their black background and the great tennis they play. Now cocooned in the rich world that they live in it`s impossible for Venus to understand the the feelings between the Arabs and Jews in this part of the world.
The boycott of South African sport during the apartheid era did a lot to bring down that racist regime. Israel and its citizens be they tennis players or just plain Joe Blogs, must be made to understand that Might is not Right. And if you commit a crime such as the slaughter of innocent civilians in the recent Gaza conflict, there is a price to pay. It may be unfair on Shahar Peer, but she is just a tennis player, and has not suffered unduly financially from her boycot, where as the people of Gaza have no homes and little or no food. |
