Part of that history is the refounding of a Jewish State, the civil laws of which do not tolerate second-class citizenship, let alone racism.

I agree with you that Israel is an occupying power, and that its military rule has not reflected the quality of the civilian; but when the occupation of Gaza ended, Israel was rewarded by an Islamist coup, followed by a rocket barrage that eventually took into its sights an eighth of Israel`s population.

The recent Gaza operation only followed a plea by the Israeli PM to Gaza`s people asking for the barrage cease. Yet Hamas, ignoring this plea, was determined to harry, maim, and kill the Jews it so hates, and made its subjects pay an awful cost for that hatred.

There is racism afoot, certainly ... but who are the racists? And why do so many Durban participants tolerate it and its hypocrisy?
