| I always agree with Mr. Levy`s analysis about the Palestinian-ISraeli conflict, but as far as Waltz with Bashir and Hollywood goes, I think that this film is at least some attempt to shed some light on what happened in Sabra and Chatila. If the film had taken a more pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel stand, there is no chance in hell it would have even been nominated for the Golden Globes or the Oscar for that matter. It would have come under an avalanche of criticism from pro-Israel groups. Hollywood is not as liberal or open-minded when it comes to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It would be career suicide for anyone in that industry to take on a more pro-Palestinian stance in movie-making. All actors, producers and directors are selfish and more concerned about their own survival than anything else. |
