Sorry to say but you are wrong. There are many families in Portugal which have mantained some elements of Judaism in their lives and knew, and passed it from generation to generation, that they had been Jews. Many more knew that they had Jewish ancestors without keeping any elements. You are right in saying that the "bloodline" as you call it (wrongly) was not kept intact. So these folks have to be formally brought back to the Jewish people via conversion, if they are interested (and many are). Joe |
