to establish a link to Judaism after 500 years is a bit disingenuous; in a small, insular country like Portugal, it`s quite conceivable that somewhere, someone has one or two Jewish ancestors; but no family maintained any element of Judaism, and, more importantly, no one maintained any sort of cohesive bloodline.
It`s cheese; or wine, or something else; it`s getting rabbinic certification to expand its market. It`s not history, it`s commerce.
Making more of it just mocks history, without otherwise reinforcing it. |
