I think people are missing the point of this article. It is about the Knesset, not Israel in general. It is a light hearted article about amusing events in the history of parliament, political events.
And to post #13, Congress and Parliament have been around a lot longer, though I agree we have some crackers. Conservative Shadow Secretary for Defense Michael Hestletine grabbing the ceremonial mace and waving it wildly just 30 years ago? Magic.
Even newly formed parliaments can have colourful histories though, consider the Welsh Assembly formed in 1997. It took 6 months for anyone to notice the Braille in lifts was upside down and meaningless. The Bomb Squad was called in after a scare and found nothing even after X-Raying the offending item, none the less they decided to blow up the calculator just in case. Wales eh, you can`t make it up. |
