| Ian Buruma indirectly raises an excellent point in his article, namely this. Why is it for the most part, Jewish news media, and Jewish organizations have largely ignored global anti-Semitism that is becoming more readily apparent in Asia, both during the Gaza conflict and due to the global economic crisis. Focus is traditionally Eurocentric and on the Middle east. Yet, why isn`t there more reporting from the world`s most populated Muslim nation, Indonesia, or from Malaysia, Thailand, or the world`s second largest economy, Japan and China? That is an extremely serious problem. If you don`t believe me just take a look at the dates on country reports in the Stephen Ross Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Hate database, or media reports from MEMRI, articles from the ADL, B`nai B`rith, etc. It is frightening that these organizations are not focusing any attention on these and other Asian markets. |
