I think that tThe whole idea of a Palestinian "state" in Gaza/Jericho/Ramallah/Nablus etc. was from the start a non-starter.
It was set up to fail because no matter what lengths the Palestinian police / internal security go to, they`d never be able to deliver 100 per cent security - so always acting to undermine Israelis` confidence in the Palestinian "state".
The Left, ie Hadash and Balad, in the decades ahead, will need to grow up and start participating in government instead of forever wallowing in utterly irrelevant opposition.
They need to come up with something practical that appeals to Israeli voters - and offers hope to the Subjects in the West Bank and Gaza that we all know are under de facto Israeli sovereignty: i.e. some kind of federal state covering the whole of the Land of Israel - perhaps like the Kurdish Autonomous Region of Iraq. |
