Lets think about this for a minute.
Liberman wants power. He wants to be a PM. He wants his party to be THE right wing party in Israel. But Likud and Bibi are in the way.
None of this will happen if he joins Likud. The two egos (his and Bibi) will kill each other and the country will move left again.
Better for him to join Livni and Barak at this time. A relatively center government balanced by a left and right wing. This would shut Likud out and hopefully they would wilt and fade away taking Bibi with them. Liberman then becomes the major right wing force and pushes the country to another election in two years time hoping to kick left wing butt.
Its a perfect strategy for him. |
