Look at the UK. I would say that the UK has regressed in almost every aspect since the election of labour in the nineties. Social services, self esteem, social mobility, the standing of the UK in the world...these have all gone downhill under a so called progressive labour government.
In Israel, most political progress to date has- ironically enough - been under right wing governments. I don`t recall any left-wing governments giving back land to Egypyt for e.g....
