The once, more or less, well defined (or so we all thought) concept of left and right have long stopped making sense in most of the West. In Europe, for example, much of the organized left have thrown their support towards Nationalistic or Pan-Arabic neo-Socialist or Social (such as the Muslim Brotherhood) movements, choosing whatever movement echos an anti-NATO and anti-Globalization position which ultimately contains an anti-Zionist dogma. The fascist right too lay claim to the same territory plus anti-immigration. Even in the 1960s and 1970 one saw the armed left such as the German RAF (Red Army Fraction aka Baader-Meinhof Gang) training with the Fatah (PLO) and german neo-Nazis. Many of the once "left" members of the Pro-Palestinian committees are now part of the extreme right. The most famous in Germany is Horst Mahler, one of the founders of RAF and once poster child of the radical left is now active in the radical right-- 2008 he even started an organization for Shoah denial.
