I agree, AM and Basil, that this is poor journalism. If the Army Radio just gave some figures without quoting the source, then Haaretz should have waited until the source was known. To my knowledge, the only poll results just published are those of the 29-31 January poll by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Centre. The JMCC holds regular polls. The latest one was in November. I think the Army radio made all of this up. Check out the full poll atjmcc.org/publicpoll/results/2009/67_jan_english.pdf The JMCC asked a sample of 1198 respondents in Gaza and the Westbank whom they would vote for if elections were held now. 28.6% said Hamas (up from 19.3% in last April) and 27.9% said Fatah (down from 34% in last April). When asked in which movement did people have public trust, 27.7% said Hamas (up from 16.6% in November 2008), and 26% said Fatah (down from 31.3% in November 2008). A big majority of the Palestinians are in favour of resistance!! |
