The perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks didn`t put the West Bank settlements high on their list of complaints about the US. They were concerned with US support for secular regimes that repressed Islamism, such as Egypt`s, the US presence in Saudi Arabia -- infidel feet violating holy soil -- and other stuff. You could look it up. Osama bin Laden (remember him?) was quite explicit.
Of course al-Quaeda doesn`t like Israel. But they don`t like any bit of it, not merely the Jewish presence on the WB. They also hate all secular society simply for being secular. Notably that of the US.
Post-facto spin is often tried. But bin-Laden`s statements are on the record. |
