Since its foundation in 1948, each citizen of state of Israel was granted equal rights, including right to elect or be elected, for freedom of speech or religion, regardless of nationality or mother tongue. These rights are ensured in the set of basic laws and are constantly enforced by jurisdiction authorities. Can you tell the same was right 60 years ago about US or South Africa or Turkey or Norway (towards Sami people)? And speaking of racism ? actually there is a discrimination in Israel. While Jewish unorthodox and Druze population serve for 3 ! years in the army for free, majority of orthodox and Arabs pursue studies and career. They are not willing to do national service (alternative to military) to help their own communities either. |
