Israel is unique in the world in that it gives all its citizens equal rights but unequal responsibilities. Everyone gets to vote, gets a free university education, and has the right to free expression and religion. However, Israeli Arabs and Heradim are exempt from the draft and are supported by welfare paid by Israelis taxpayers who served in the IDF. On top of that, large numbers of Israeli Arabs - including one cabinet minister publicly sided with Hamas - an organization dedicated to a second holocaust - during the latest war.
It`s not racist to try to put an end to this sad state of affairs. Anyone living in Israel - whatever their religion - needs to decide if they want to be Israeli. If so, they can do their 3 years in the IDF and be welcomed as equals. The Israeli Druze community has been doing this for years. Anyone who is not willing to shoulder the burden of citizenship needs to get off the gravy train and find somewhere else to live. |
