Talkback
Title:Peter 14. Why should the Arabs accept Israel?

Personally, like the rest of the world, I accept Israel within its 1967 borders, but it`s easy to see why the Arabs wouldn`t want to.

Up till the late 19th century, Palestine was an Arab country with minorities from other peoples including Jews. Then European Jews started immigrating with the stated purpose, not of integrating into existing Arab society, but of establishing a separate Jewish, and European-style state. Of course, there was going to be friction. It was inevitabe. It was like the idea of Muslim immigrants trying to set up a Muslim state in Britain. There`d be war, if they tried that. Now Arabs are second-class citizens in Israel and kept stateless and under military rule in the West Bank as hostages untol Israel gets the deal it likes.
