"Years from now, we may look back on the film not only as anti-war, but, perhaps even more usefully for our purposes and future, a message that our humanity is better left open to the air, than locked away for safekeeping." - Bradley Burston
A poignant last paragraph.
How about a more useful idea. How about being honest about what is going on and what you are doing.
It may not change what you do. But at least you don`t have to lie to yourselves and the rest of the world, pretending it isn`t so.
I often see Mr. Ben Gurion quoted by the `arab` side as saying he would have fought had he been them. He meant it.
He is also cited as committing acts of ethnic cleansing during the War of Independence. He made no bones about it. He did. He HAD to. The situation was too grave to do otherwise.
The irony is that Mr. Ben Gurion`s humanity and honesty are used to disparage him.
At least Israel under Ben Gurion didn`t have to lie about what it was, and what it was doing. |
