| I don`t believe that anyone in this talkback has ever suggested that Israel has no right to defend itself against attacks. The major criticism is that Israel does not restrict their response to the guilty parties. If Israel simply embarked on a "punitive reposnce" to this event, then three things will happen. First, the attackers will have gotten away with their attack, second, Israel will have killed some innocent people and made new enemies, third, Israel will have created an injustice equal to the original attack. These three results are the problems which have plagued Israel for decades. The Israeli leadership always opts for a fast response rather than a wise response and the result is that Israel has become isolated and shunned in the world and rightly so. |
