| Please consider: You can`t lead and motivate an army in a war by Peace Now ideology. The task of a soldier is to fight and kill enemy fighters - I`m sorry, but that`s the definition and job of a soldier. If you tell him that there really are no enemies, only "peace partners" - then he will hesitate to fight and get killed by the other side that unluckily doesn`t have such doubts. I can also see nothing wrong in quoting passages from the Tanach or referring to them - Israel is a Jewish State, the Tanach is the foundation of Judaism and what else should the army rabbinate refer to? Zen Buddhism? The new testament? The communist manifesto? By the way, even in the Koran the land of Israel is referred to as the land that G-d, or, as they put it, Allah, has given to the Jews (Surah 5:20-21). |
