| The spike in antisemitic acts is direct consequence of Israeli actions in Gaza. Israel is making itself less safe, not more, through the oppression of the blockade and the carnage wreaked in its recent military action. What do you suppose all those people are thinking that lost their homes and families during the latest offensive? How many grieving parents, spouses, children now hold nothing but hate in their hearts for those responsible for the loss of their loved ones, their homes, their livelihoods? The way to peace is not through violence. It is encouraging to see many Muslim leaders speaking out condemning antisemitic acts and asking Muslim members of their communities to protect and defend their Jewish neighbours. In the same vein, it is essential for Jewish people to speak up in defense of the Palestinians. Violence begets violence, peace begets peace. |
