I keep reading that everyone needs to deal with Hamas, because they were democratically elected... that might have been true for a bit, HOWEVER, after Hamas executed their military coup against the ALSO democratically elected PA, and started throwing them off roof tops... they lost their standing as a democratically elected government and showed what they truly are (like it was a big secret to begin with).
I find it hard to believe that the Palestinians had a choice on the ballot that said, a) PA b) Hamas or c) Hamas and kill everyone else... lots of choices there.
In the end, yes, to make peace you have to talk with the enemy, but if the enemy is not willing to envision a future where you still exist then there is nothing to talk about. |
