It`s one thing to try to heal a schism in the church, but to implicitly grant a seal of church approval to a man who denies the true suffering of the Holocaust--by a German-born pope, no less--would be a slap in the face to Jews, if not to all civilized persons everywhere. Pope Benedict knows better, and he should stand on principle and make clear where he stands here.
