Waltzing with bashir is a great film but it`s surely ironic that nearly 30 years after the massacre at shabra and shatilla a film in which israel tries to come to terms with it`s responsibility in that massacre is nominated for an oscar. 30 years from now will we see another oscar nomination for the recent massacres in gaza for which, this time we have sole responsibility?
I served in lebanon at the time of sabra & shatilla and that experience together with the attrocities i was asked too commit in the occupied teritories led me to flee israel and become an active campaigner against the attrocities perpetuated in my name (as a jew) by israel.
i was raised in a zionist house, attended bnei akiva, ws filled with dreams of an israel that are a million miles away from todays realities. it is time for all decent jews to disown israel and work on repairing the damage done to the jews by the zionism. |
