There is no doubt that this movie can build a bridge, and yes it will be pirated soon in Lebanon, just like any movie :). However, it is also trying to divert Lebanese people`s attention from the real conflict with Israel. Although I havent seen it, the topic and title says it all. It is true Muslims and Christians fought each other and massacres happened but that should be forgotten since it is from the past we are all Lebanese at the end of the day. It was a civil war and we dont want to bring up the wounds of the past, which involved to a large extent Israel`s interference. Not to mention that all parties have reconciled now.
Now perhaps in the future, when a reconciliation occurs between Israel and Lebanon, and Israel and the Arab States and at least some rights are won back by palestinians including lands, then both sides may forgot the massacres and tragedies of the Arabo-Israeli conflict and live in peace. |
