For balance, Gideon Levy should certainly be asked to participate in the inquiry. Best to hear both sides of the picture, both the glorious heights and the dastardly depths. The truth will be somewhere in between. How much of it we are able to take on board will be the measure of our mettle as a country. "Was there no other way apart from such widespread killing and destruction? " Yes, there was. But it involved talking to people. That is likely to be the least dramatic, inventive or creative conclusion of such an inquiry.
