| It has become a familiar cynical move: whenever Israel is caught red-handed it starts `investigating`. That`s instead of saying: "Yeah, we screwed up, we thought we`ll get away with it, you caught us, now what are you going to do about it". `Winograd` is for home consumption, to put a process in motion so that the public is assuaged, several fall guys pay the price and the real culprits get away unless they resign of their own volition or get kicked out in the next election. What Israel needs and deserves is a trial in the Hague so that it at least stand accountable for its misdeeds in the eyes of the world, for the records. Extracting terrible vengence on a civilian population for primarily a pychological terror and great inconvenience cannot stand. |
