Obama is a believer is the `What Works` school.

Their team has a long list of what doesn`t work and that may be the problem.

Divide the Palestinians didn`t work.
Supporting a Palestinian gov. didn`t work.
Subsidizing Israel lavishly didn`t work.
Supporting PA democracy and elections didn`t work. Israel didn`t want to negotiate with them.
Supporting a `friendly` PA dictatorship didn`t work. Israel didn`t want to negotiate in good faith there, either.
Supporting a PA counterinsurgency has had some minimal success in the West Bank. They`re not allowed to work at night in most places.

The US won`t support ethnic cleansing so the `transfer` option is out.

About the only things we haven`t tried are matching (and not exceeding) the Israeli contribution to creating a viable Palestinian state & government that can function AND be independent of Israel or pushing for equal citizenship rights for all the conquered people in a single state.
