Gee, as a one-time Gunner`s Mate in the USN, I can tell you that depleted uranium ammunition is not limited to use against heavily armored targets. Whether or not Israel uses such ammunition, I have no idea, and I seriously doubt that you do.

Mark, the reason that inhalation or ingestion of depleted uranium (or other heavy metals) is so dangerous is precisely because nearly 100% of the radiation given off is absorbed by the body. I assume you meant that the problem isn`t casual exposure to radiation from discarded rounds, which is probably true, but radiation is still the issue.

In an area as densely populated (and farmed) as Gaza, I wonder if even leaching from discarded rounds might prove a serious hazard. It seems rather likely, but I don`t know enough to judge.
