In those dark days, America and England stood very much alone against the tides of madness that shook, not a distant third world, but continental Europe itself. Was George Bush wrong to slap some sense into France and Germany as they started to drift again? I don`t think so. Obama inherits that vast political capital -- a chastened central Europe -- from Bush who never caved in to the postmodern liberal madness of France and Germany at the start of his administration. |
