| Syria is a major and most important key in containing Iranian power and influence. If Syria can be lured or seduced to come into the Western camp the whole Iranian project for beconing the ME major power gets an enormous setback. Obama may demand that Syria stops all support to Hamas, Hezbullah and all the other lot, close secret weapons programs, accept Israel formally a la Egypt and state it `s intention to all-out peace with Israel if the Golan is to be returned. Obama may lure the Syrians with economic, military and technological assistance and developement, trade, access to Western markets, political consultation. Oh yes, and the Golan. |
