According to the political `realists` there is one answer to all America`s problems in the Middle East, and in the world.i.e. Pressure Israel. Pressure Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria (The West Bank) and all will be wonderful.The Palestinians will become a peace- loving people. The Muslim Brotherhood and Islamic Jihad and Al- Quaeda and the Mullahs in Iran and every Wahabi and Salafi will all become lovers of the Declaration of Independence and will to live forever in peace with their non- Islamic neighbors.
The simple truth is that the reason the formula to pressure Israel is always evoked is because Israel seems to be the only one the U.S. can really pressure. That doesn`t make it right. And that doesn`t mean it will bring Peace. Moreover it is bad enough when it comes from the Walts Mearsheimers and other assorted Israeli- despisers in the American academic establishment it`s one thing- when it comes from an Israeli it`s a bit sickening. |
