| Actually, as Israeli Human Rights activists in Peace Now have demonstrated, Israel routinely detains (without trial) thousands of Palestinians, including minors. Moreover, twenty-five percent of the detainees have been suspected of torture-- a practice that the Israeli secret police have admittedly observed. The blanket ban on torture that was activated by the Landau Commission does not, in fact, prohibit prisoner abuse as it allows it in incidents of imminent threat, which, go figure, are apparently every day in Israel. |
