It is Hamas and Israel that have to be making agreements, and until we do the shooting will continue and more peole will die. We should have talked to Hamas in the beginning and we did not. We should have paused after a week of bombing and told them they had better stop shooting and come talk, and we did not.
Now the Bush administration has bequeathed an agreement to Obama that he will have to uphold - a situation that leaves Obama tied to a situation that he might not have wanted to initiate at all. Egypt and Hamas talk, and Israel and the US talk, and seemingly never the twain shall meet. |
