Dear A B Yehoshua,
To establish a link between what is happening in Gaza and Kant`s categorical imperative is nothing else than calling for the universalisation of barbary. If you truly advocate the categorical imperative, then the last thing you should do in the present situation is to write an open letter to Gideon Levy criticising one of the few corageous journalists in the Middle East. Indeed, it is an act of cowardice. Your position, A B Yehoshua, is only understandable, after patriotism has already become a necessary ingredient of the categorical imperative and has thus been turned into a self-contradicting maxim. Your letter is out of place and a great cause for concern. |
