| The campaign to prepare the Israeli public for defeat continues. The question that needs to be asked is `why should Hamas be weaker after it defeats Israel?" What will Gazan`s have to ponder? That Israel savaged them and did not destroy Hamas? That they were sold out by Fatah when they were being savaged by Israel? That the whole world stood aside while Hamas stood up? Israel has taught three lessons to the Palestinians. 1. Only force matters, Israel cannot be dealt with any other way. Force is all that Israel understands. 2. That the only force in the world which acted to protect them is Hamas. 3. Fatah sold them out to Israel. Abbas was hoping to ride to victory over Hamas on the back of Israeli tanks, and ONLY after it was certain Israel was unwilling to pay the cost of defeating Hamas did he start to backtrack. These are absolutely insane lessons to teach the Palestinians. They strengthen Hamas, crush Palestinian moderates, and make future war inevitable. |
