| If Olmert is telling the truth, then this shows the disgraceful and craven obeisance which Bush, in common with most U.S. politicians, renders to Israel. If he is not, he is a liar. Either way, his remarks show utter contempt for America and its leaders. One can hope that Obama, running for a place in the history books, might end the disgraceful kowtowing to Israel`s leaders, and risk the wrath of the Israel lobby. He might just have enough approval right now to carry it off. The Europeans are trying to apply pressure through the movement to deny Israel special status with regard to the EU. Sadly however it is probably only the U.S. that has the necessary clout to make Israel take the sort of necessary steps that Olmert himself was talking about only a few months ago. |
