The Hamas use of white phosporous is, indeed, a war crime. However, Human Rights Watch has confirmed that Israel is committing the same crime. Amnesty International has also reported that Israel is using civilians as human shields within Gaza, which is also a war crime, and is consistent with Israeli standard operating procedure I have personally witnessed (most frequently in Jenin in 2003, and sporadically since then in other spots in the West Bank). Israel has also acknowledged targeting civilian institutions in Gaza that clearly do not (and are not even alleged to) qualify as military targets...another war crime. For that matter, the Israeli blockade of Gaza, given the manner in which it has been applied, inarguably constitutes illegal collective punishment, and is almost certainly the most damaging war crime committed by either Israel or Hamas in many years.
