As an American Jew watching recent events unfold I many like me struggle to maintain support for Israel, always believing its better instincts will prevail and hoping that the Gaza war as awful as it is will ultimately benefit the cause of peace. But this profoundly racist, undemocratic and utterly pointless action will only serve to make Israel`s image in the world plummet. What purpose does this serve? Maybe I`ve been wrong all along and my leftist friends are right. Maybe Israel is an apartheid state. I`m disgusted and saddened. I pray there is a popular reaction against this move and it is swiftly rejected by the Supreme Court.
