There is an entire climate of opinion whether Israel should continue its Gaza operation.
But so long as the primary objective remain clear - permanently destroying Hamas` ability to bombard Israeli civilians at will with rocket and mortar fire - I would opine the operation should continue unabated.
The mission, then, is not yet complete. Rocket fire has been reduced, but not eliminated. To quit now might, as Mr Olmert said, buy 12 seconds` worth of approbation from the rest of the world; and that, plus several shekels, would buy a citizen of Sderot a cup of coffee.
Were I that citizen, I would want my government to finish the job. Coffee would just make me more jittery, anyway - especially when I`m already being bombarded by Hamas. I`d rather see the government damned for keeping my and my fellow citizens safe.
