Amos Harel and Avi Issacharoff : ANALYSIS / Perhaps Israel should quit Gaza op while it's still ahead

Title:No need to topple Hamas

Toppling Hamas should not be the goal of further IDF operations. Far better that the Pals topple Hamas themselves. Israel`s goals here should be to:

a/.Inflict maximum damage on Hamas to act as a deterrent to future rocket attacks and
b/.To implement new arrangement at the Egypt/Gaza border to stop further importation of weapons.

Objective (a) has already been achieved
Objective (b) is not far off

Once these have been achieved Israel should withdraw. Should rocket attacks continue it must be made clear to Hamas that Cast Lead II will be started which will offer far worse consequences to Pals than this current operation.
