Since the beginning, the one program that Israel has conducted with implacable determination and without modification has been the settlement of Palestinian lands by Israelis. Every other controversy has served as a distraction to direct attention away from this, Israel`s primary goal.
The wars that were fought, the acquisition of Gaza from Egypt, the Golan Heights landgrab, the Shaaba Farms, the Lebanese wars, the expansion of existing settlements and the creation of new ones in the West Bank - all these have as their single goal the fulfillment of the zionist dream: total possession of Palestine. So, too, the present war in Gaza. So it is a war zone! So what? The settlers implore the govt to let them resettle. Good excuse. Now govt need not reveal what they intended from the start. Now they have only to look the other way. Or as Olmert would say: hint, hint. |
