| Haaretz has said Israel should stop from day one of Cast Lead. Herds of its columnists have prophecised the doom of Cast Lead, saying, among other things, That Israel hasn`t learned from Lebanon 2006, that the kitchen cabinet was completely disfunctional, even calls to "talk to Hamas", and other epater le bourgeois -delikatessen. If it would put aside its leftist prejudices, the air would be clearer to judge whether -compulsions aside- it is truly, really, in a panoramic and responsible way, worthwhile to continue this op. Israel`s image is already dismal, thanks to the anti-Semitically correct global media and Israel`s equally dismal understanding of how global opinion is shaped by the media outside Israel. Its dipolmatic front is equally dismal, with signs of erosion to the understanding it needs everywhere, including perhaps some sectors in the USA. But militarily, Israel is restoring its deterrent power really well. That should not be fragile, but a deep and lasting imprint. |
