`{Israel`s} rejection of the UN resolution is simply a reflection of the fact that they have no exit strategy.`
Hamas`s rejection of the UN resolution is simply a reflection of the fact that Hamas knows no way of co-existing peacefully with Israel. Israel simply has to put Hamas away.
But it may not be that Israel, in the next phase of the Gaza operation, will engage in urban warfare to do this. It may simply surround the conurbations, or parts thereof, and draw a very tight noose around them. Hamas thus might remain in power - if it could be called that - under very circumscribed conditions.
The US accomplished this in the First Gulf War against Iraq, effecetively neutralising the Baathist regime without having to take Baghdad, street by bloody street. The Israelis have options, and they are not all necessarily bad ones.
