The next stage for Israel is the one they will find most costly - urban warfare.
They cannot win this stage of the war.
They will be worn down by IDF death, the atrocities they commit in the crowded back alleyways of Gaza City will lead to more and more international disgust and fury.
Their rejection of the UN resolution is simply a reflection of the fact that they have no exit strategy. They have gone in without having any clear idea of what they want to achieve before they get out.
Fantasy notions of "getting rid of Hamas" are exactly that. Hamas is a party of 1.5 million people and cannot be eradicated. |
