| Turkey played a constructive role between Israel and Syria recently. In the past, when the unilateral Gaza disengagement was planned Turkey with the initiative of TOBB Rifat Hisarcikoglu offered to build and industrial infrastructure in Gaza which was never materialized due to Hamas policies. During these times Turkey was behaving more or less neutral. However in this last crisis PM Erdogan used language that clearly supported Hamas [His words of support were highly criticized in the Turkish media by Cuneyt Ulsever of Hurriyet, Eyup can of referans, Rauf tamer of posta etc] and therefore has lost his neutrality and ability to be a mediator. |
