| I remember watching CNN with a few Iraqi Jewish friends in Morasha, the day that Saddam`s staute was pulled down. The cameras focussed on many an Iraqi gent smacking a poster of Saddam with their shoes. I was perplexed. Until my friends explained to me that this was an Iraqi jesture of dismissal and hate. I found it delightfully primitive, expecially since I was watching it on television, not actually immersed in this demonstration of honor and humiliation. Interesting to see that a Lefty progressive in NZ, has taken to adopting such a barbarian jesture. What is a progressive when he is regressive? I guess that would make the progressive movement transgressive, could work in San Francisco, seemed to have failed in NZ. |
