How much better would it have been for Israel to lift the Starvation Blockade on Gaza and so ensure a continuation (and enforcement) of the ceasefire by Hamas? That was all Hamas was asking. But, no - Israel wanted peace but the right to continue starving the Palestinian people to death. Israel is led by the most inept politicians on the planet.
