| ...48 years ago. The service was on Friday night at a conservative synagogue. On Sunday we had an open house in the back yard in Miami on a gorgeous February day. Relatives and friends, rabbi, cantor, etc. came to it. My parents rented some tables and chairs. My dad couldn`t stand paper plates so my mom bought some inexpensive "blue willow" pattern dishes and some extra cutlery. 48 years later she is still using them. We didn`t have a dishwasher--plates and cutlery were washed as soon as they were done with. It was not catered--my mother and some family friends who also kept kosher prepared the food (dairy). No band or entertainment. Who knew we would be so far ahead of our time? |
