| If Israel achieves certain military goals by damaging Hamas and then accepts a ceasefire based on terms it can accept and not another 1701 then it can pull out and be seen to have won. Even if Hamas publicly claim that they won the important things will have been achieved 1) A long term security deal not another 6 month hudna. 2) The arab governments especialy Syria and their proxy Hezbullah who thought Israel lost its deterent who after Lebanon thought Israel had lost its deterent capabilities and could be taken advantage of but is they see what Israel has done to Hamas, the damage its done in Gaza and the political deal is got out of it in the end then they will see Israel is not the paper tiger it became after Lebanon. All Israel needs now is a ceasefire that it can accept and not the simple end fighting open crossing that Hamas want. Even if Hamas claim victory publicly the leadership will know they have lost. |
